Explore forming a Taraweeh group

When around 10 to 20 people near you are interested, a small local congregation may be possible. Here is what organising one involves.

Register your interest and tick the updates box. If a group is organised near you, we can let you know.

Registered interest is not a commitment to attend. We never pass anyone's contact details to an organiser without their explicit consent.

Venue & organisation

What to think about before you start

Practical considerations only. For questions about how the prayer should be arranged, please seek guidance from a qualified local scholar or Imam.

A suitable space

A clean, quiet area large enough for your expected numbers, with written permission from the owner or manager.

Wudu and facilities

Washroom and wudu facilities, and somewhere for shoes and coats.

Access for everyone

Step-free access where possible, and arrangements for elderly attendees.

Travel and parking

Parking, public transport and late-night journeys home. Be considerate of neighbours.

Sound

Whether a sound system is needed, and keeping noise reasonable late at night.

People and safeguarding

A named organiser, volunteers for each night, and plans for safeguarding, first aid and emergencies.

Hosting a Hafiz

If offered: accommodation, meals and transport, agreed clearly with the Hafiz in advance.

Expectations

Your congregation's expectations, such as dates and khatm, which you set out in your listing.

Registering your group

Enhanced verification protects everyone

Private groups register in the Taraweeh Connect app and go through stricter checks than mosques, because Taraweeh may take place in a home or shared space.
  1. 1

Register your private group in the app

Choose Private Group when you register, and complete your group's details.

  2. 2

    Verify your identity and address

Submit your government ID, a selfie and your address for verification.

  3. 3

    Provide at least one reference

A letter from a nearby mosque, a scholar or Imam recommendation, a community leader endorsement or a recommendation from an existing verified user. An administrator must approve the reference itself.

  4. 4

    Admin approval

An administrator must approve your group before you can publish a request for a Hafiz or invite one.

Ready to organise? Register as a Private Group in the app. Allow time for verification and approval before Ramadan.
