Many mosques arrange their Taraweeh Imam one to three months before Ramadan. Starting early gives your committee time to agree what you need, hear recitation samples and speak to candidates before dates fill up.
1. Agree your requirements as a committee
Before you look at candidates, agree the essentials so that everyone on the committee is assessing Huffaz against the same expectations.
- Dates: the full month, part of Ramadan or the last ten nights.
- Rakaat and khatm expectations for your congregation.
- Accommodation, meals and transport, if your mosque can offer them.
- The honorarium your committee has agreed, if any.
- Language and recitation pace that suit your congregation.
2. Publish a clear listing
On Taraweeh Connect, a listing sets out your dates, rakaat, accommodation, honorarium and expectations. Your mosque's location, Madhab and congregation size come from your mosque profile, so keep that profile up to date.
3. Review candidates carefully
Hafiz profiles can include recitation and Tajweed audio samples, video links, experience, and the Verified Hafiz badge, which is only granted after an administrator approves the Hafiz's ID, selfie and credentials. You can also invite Huffaz directly from search.
Move promising applications through review, shortlist and interview. Chat opens once you start reviewing an application, so you can ask questions before making an offer.
4. Confirm, and keep a plan B
When the Hafiz accepts your offer, the booking is confirmed and your listing is marked as filled. If circumstances change, either side can cancel, and you can re-open the listing to find a replacement.
After Ramadan, both sides can leave a review. Honest reviews help other mosques and Huffaz in future years.
