How verification works on Taraweeh Connect
What the Verified Hafiz, Verified Mosque and private-group checks involve, who reviews them, and what they mean for your safety.
Taraweeh Connect team · · 1 min read
Taraweeh brings people together in mosques, community spaces and sometimes private homes. Verification exists so that each side can make an informed decision about who they are dealing with.
Verified Hafiz
A Hafiz earns the Verified Hafiz badge when an administrator has approved each of the following:
- A government-issued ID.
- A selfie, which an administrator compares with the ID. There is no automated face matching.
- A Hifz completion certificate.
- Any other credential the Hafiz has submitted, such as an Ijazah or Tajweed certificate.
If any submitted item is pending or rejected, the badge is not shown. Rejections include a reason, and the Hafiz can resubmit.
Verified Mosque
Mosques provide their registration number, their charity registration if they have one, and a website or social media link. An administrator checks these details against public registers.
Private groups: enhanced checks
Private groups are held to a higher standard because Taraweeh may take place in a home or a shared space. Before a private group can publish a listing or invite a Hafiz:
- Its organiser's ID must be verified.
- Its address must be verified.
- At least one reference must be explicitly approved by an administrator. This can be a letter from a nearby mosque, a scholar or Imam recommendation, a community leader endorsement or a recommendation from an existing verified user.
- An administrator must approve the group.
Huffaz can see a private group's verification ticks (ID verified, address verified, reference approved) and a trust score on its listings and profile.
Privacy built in
A host's exact address is only revealed to the booked Hafiz while the booking is confirmed. Private groups and Huffaz appear on the map only as approximate areas. Verification documents are stored privately and are only seen by the people reviewing them.
