Apply or invite? Two ways to find your Taraweeh Imam

Huffaz can apply to your listing, or you can invite a Hafiz directly. Both routes end in the same place. Here is how each one works and when to use it.

There are two ways a match starts on Taraweeh Connect. A Hafiz finds your listing and applies, or you find a Hafiz and invite them to one of your Open listings. After the first step, both routes follow the same path, and a booking exists only when the Hafiz accepts your offer.

Route 1: a Hafiz applies

  1. Your listing is Open, and a Hafiz with a verified email applies. You see ‘Application Received’.
  2. You start reviewing it (‘Reviewing Candidate’). This opens the chat between you.
  3. You can shortlist, request or schedule an interview, and send an offer. The middle steps are optional.
  4. The Hafiz accepts the offer, and you see ‘Imam Confirmed’.

Route 2: you invite a Hafiz

Search for Huffaz in Find. You can filter by distance, Madhab, availability, experience, recitation pace, whether they have an audio sample, rating and language. Open a profile, listen to the recitation samples, and invite the Hafiz to one of your Open listings.

The Hafiz sees ‘Invitation Received’ and can say Interested or decline. Chat opens once they say Interested, and from then on the invitation follows the same steps as an application: review, shortlist, interview and offer.

When to use which

  • Publish and wait when you start early in the season and your requirements are fairly standard. Applications come to you.
  • Invite when you have a specific need, such as a particular recitation pace or language, or when you want to listen to samples before anyone applies.
  • Do both. Nothing stops you inviting Huffaz to a listing that is also receiving applications.

Use Saved to keep a private shortlist of Huffaz you might invite. The Hafiz is not told that you saved them.

Rules worth knowing

  • A Hafiz can have one active match per listing, whether it started as an application or an invitation.
  • After a match is declined, cancelled or closed, the same Hafiz cannot apply or be invited to that listing again unless you re-open the listing.
  • When a Hafiz accepts an offer, the listing becomes Filled and every other live application or invitation on it shows ‘Opportunity Closed’.
  • Mosques can invite without being verified. A Private Group must be approved before it can invite.
  • If you switch on ‘Verified Huffaz only’, only Huffaz with the Verified Hafiz badge can apply or be invited.
